Resident Evil Requiem is still generating headlines six months after its February 27, 2026 launch, this time thanks to a pair of amiibo figures. Leon S. Kennedy and new protagonist Grace Ashcroft got their own $29.99 amiibo on July 30, and unlike most collectible tie-ins, these actually plug back into the Switch 2 version of the game.
Tapping the Leon amiibo to the Switch 2's NFC touchpoint unlocks a unique skin for the Requiem magnum, the game's signature sidearm, while the Grace figure grants a Neon-styled reskin of her S&S M232. Both are cosmetic rather than gameplay-altering, but the tie-in gives Capcom's toy line a functional hook that pure display-shelf amiibo have historically lacked.
Demand outpaced early stock
The figures sold out quickly enough at launch that retailers spent the following weeks restocking; Nintendo's US storefront only caught up with demand for the pair recently, with collectors flagging both figures as some of the hardest amiibo to find since release. That kind of scramble is a useful signal for Capcom, coming five months after launch and well past the window where most single-player horror games would have faded from the sales conversation.

A story expansion is already in the works
More significant for players focused on substance over collectibles: Capcom has acknowledged that a story expansion for Resident Evil Requiem is in active development. The publisher hasn't detailed what form it will take or given a release window, but the confirmation alone marks a shift from the amiibo-and-cosmetics cadence of the past few months toward planned narrative content — following the series' recent pattern of extending its mainline entries with substantial post-launch story add-ons.

Requiem launched to strong critical reception, picking up multiple awards at Gamescom 2025 ahead of release, and it shipped day one across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC. With amiibo restocks finally catching up to demand and an expansion confirmed for the pipeline, Capcom looks intent on keeping Requiem in the conversation well into its second half-year on shelves. Further details on the expansion's scope and timing are expected in the months ahead.
